Szechuan Chinese Restaurant
About This Spot
Walking into Szechuan Chinese Restaurant on Locke Avenue feels like entering a warmly lit corner of Fort Worth where familiarity meets thoughtful care. It’s the kind of neighborhood spot that invites you to slow down just a little—where the gentle buzz of conversations mingles with the low hum of happy chatter and the occasional friendly greeting from staff who seem genuinely glad you’re here.
The atmosphere strikes a comfortable balance between casual and quietly refined, with tasteful décor that hints at heritage without overwhelming the senses. It’s a place where you might settle in for a weekday lunch that arrives promptly yet without rush, or linger over dinner with friends savoring the textured layers of flavor unfolding on your plate.
What stands out here is the way the food connects you to a sense of honest, crafted tradition. Dishes arrive thoughtfully prepared, offering familiar favorites with subtle details that reward repeat visits—like the crisp edges on a well-fried General TSO’s chicken or the gentle complexity in a San Shien soup, where seafood blends seamlessly with vegetables in a light broth. And while the menu is broad, there's a sense that each item is part of a story told through shared flavors and comforting textures.
The experience extends beyond food, too—the attentive yet unhurried service, the chatter between staff and regulars, even the occasional clink of glasses as cocktails like the frozen Pina Colada or the bright, refreshing Caipirinha find their way to tables. It’s a place that makes room for quiet moments and lively nights alike.
Whether you’re looking for a thoughtful solo meal or a casual date night out, Szechuan Chinese Restaurant offers a slice of community and warmth within its walls. It’s a spot where the rhythms of everyday life ease into something a little more personal and satisfying—not just feeding hunger, but welcoming connection.

Felt like eating Chinese food for dinner, and so we tried this place out. We got the beef fried rice, which was overpriced and you don’t get much, plus, it wasn’t all that great. I’ve had better. But the General tso is definitely something I’ll come back to order again because it was quite delicious. They agreed to use white meat, but I just wish they fried the chicken a little better, since it was kinda soggy, but the flavor was really good. It also comes with steamed or fried rice and steamed broccoli, so I feel this was the better deal. So yah, not a fan of the beef fried rice, but definitely order their general tso.

This place was really good! I’m not a big Chinese food person, but this place was really good! The drinks were so good! I was good with 2! The pecan shrimp was so good. My hubby ate all his beef. The service was outstanding! Nice atmosphere as well. Great for date nights.

Wow. Awesome atmosphere, super friendly staff, I just met Blanca and she is awesome. The food is fantastic, best Chinese food that I ever had and really affordable price, lunch $10 unbelievable. I had a Mandarin combo, hot sour soup, not that hot, it’s perfect. And I had a hot tea. Was so good that I order same to bring with me. The waitress Judy was super helpful explaining me the options on the menu. Easy to park.

This place is hard to beat! Beef & Broccli for lunch is a perfect serving size! The soup was excellent. Nice staff and fast service. In and out in 15min.

Stopped here on a whim one Friday night, and I'll admit, I've never heard of it before. I loved the ambiance inside and its super well decorated. The food was pretty good, but I'm effectively calling it upscale Panda Express. There were many things I was sad to see missing from their menu. No real dumplings or anything. It felt a little generic. But! It was pretty good. I could tell it was fresh and all handmade. The ginger chicken had huge slices of ginger in it that made the dish really pop.
